Janet Roe / J Roe Photography
Winter Street Studios
Born and raised in the Midwest, Janet Roe now works as a portrait & fine art photographer in Houston, Texas. Having pursued successful careers in teaching and the law, she immersed herself in the art of photography. Her powerful and expressive portraiture captures people of all ages. She prefers her black and white work but also appreciates capturing the beauty - and beyond - of personality in color. (See http://www.jroephotgraphy.com) Her artistic work is project based. (See http://www.janetroe.com and http://www.janetroephotgraphy.com) She has created a series of photographic cityscapes that reflect the blending of old and new in a city that often rejects the old; a series of abstractions that call to mind the consequences of our human inaction; a series of representational photographs that explore the relationship of families to their guns. She also has examined the soul of artists at work through representational black and white portraiture. She has studied at the Glassell School of Art (of the Museum of Fine Arts Houston), Houston Center for Photography, and the Texas School of Professional Photography.
