STATEMENT My work represents artifacts of time and memory viewed through the lens of the natural world. In my paintings, the landscape becomes fragmented, abstracted and cellular up close, while more true-to-life from a distance. Referencing travels during my second phase of adulthood, these paintings are a meditation on resilience, the search for meaning, and mortality. Each painting is created through a meticulous process of photography, digital processing, and image transfer followed by brushwork, reminiscent of needlework both in its application and the emotional connection in invokes as the daughter of a stitcher and a woman working with her hands. BIO Born in Concord, Massachusetts and raised in Texas, Camille Warmington earned a Bachelor of Interior Architecture from Kansas State University in 1984. She worked for architecture firms in New York City and Dallas and, in 1989, moved to Houston. Camille studied painting at the MFAHs Glassell School and her work has been included in numerous juried exhibitions including the 2000 Houston Area Exhibition at the Blaffer Art Museum, the 2013 Big Show at Lawndale Arts Center, and Artspace 111 in Fort Worth. Warmington had her first solo exhibition at Lawndale in 2015 and was a 2016 Hunting Prize finalist.
