Deborah Morris completed her Bachelor of Fine Art and Secondary Level Teaching Certification in art at the University of Texas at Austin. While exploring various media including oil, acrylics and ceramics she taught art to children in public and private schools in Austin, and did freelance graphic art and illustration. After obtaining her Master of Architecture in 1987 she began a practice in Houston which she maintained until 2012. Her architectural projects have been exhibited throughout the country,and recognized nationally and internationally through publication in prestigious periodicals and journals including Progressive Architecture, Texas Architect, Architecture, Dwell, and Architectural Review. From 1987 to 2002 she taught design at four top-tier universities in Texas. Since her return to art in 2004 she has focused primarily on drawing in pencil and crayon on various substrates. Ms. Morris has exhibited her work in numerous juried shows and by invitation in Houston and Austin, and was a finalist for the 2007 Hunting Art Prize. Deborah has maintained a studio at Winter St. for 13 years where she works most days, when not teaching art to children at Art Studio on the Boulevard, welcoming visitors to the Art Car Museum, and consulting in design.
