Luisa Duarte is a visual artist with extensive ties to Latin America. As an artist with formal training in architecture, Duarte also found early inspiration in the geometric abstraction movement, all of which is loosely referenced in her work. Line, color and texture provide important structural bases for an exploration of themes related to the meaning of home , limits and fragility-- understanding fragility as a range of experiences and events that trigger meaningful change and growth. She engages with these themes through a variety of techniques and mediums, including acrylic, watercolor, ink, paper and plaster. Her work is available in original form, limited edition prints, monotypes, collage and as art objects. Luisa Duarte lives in Houston, where she shares a home with her husband and two dogs, and welcomes visitors to her studio by appointment.
